Description:
silicol®gel contains silicic acid which is a compound of the mineral substance silicon and oxygen in a colloidal (highly dispersable) and hydrated form.
Silicon is the second most abundant element on Earth, after oxygen. It is found in nature as silicon dioxide and in the hydrated or aqueous form as silicic acid.
Gastrointestinal disorders are usually caused by irritants and by harmful and toxic substances as well as pathogens.
When taken internally, silicol®gel coats the stomach and intestines with a protective layer. Due to the adsorptive or binding properties of colloidal silicic acid, it physically adsorbs or binds with most irritants and harmful and toxic substances as well as pathogens. silicol®gel can also bind gases (which can reduce flatulence and bloat) and reduce excess acidity.
Substances bound to silicol®gel is rendered harmless and are removed naturally through the intestines and out of the body.

After acute symptoms ease, treatment with silicol®gel can continue for another few days. silicol®gel also allevitates similar symptoms in the gastrointestinal tract that may occur due to a change in diet during travel or on holiday.
If acute symptoms worsen or have not reduced after three days, consult a doctor.
With diarrhoea, it is necessary to replace lost fluids. In chronic disorders, treat for up to 4 weeks followed by a break of between 4 to 7 days. This provides an opportunity to check that symptoms have settled which may indeed reduce the need to take silicol®gel as frequently.
