Jonolit Baby is a powder used for the preparation of an oral rehydration solution, to replenish electrolytes loss in states of dehydration in infants and children under 3 years of age. Jonolit Baby is formulated based on the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) recommendations, with reduced osmolarity and sodium content.
Replenishes sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate ions and glucose.
Ingredients: Glucose, Sodium citrate, Sodium chloride, Potassium chloride
Each 1 sachet (200mL solution) contains:
Sodium 276 mg (60 mmol/L)
Potassium 157 mg (20 mmol/L)
Chloride 355 mg (50 mmol/L)
Citrate 379 mg (10 mmol/L)
Glucose 3.24 g (90 mmol/L)
Solution osmolarity: 230 mOsm/ L
Dosage:
For mild - moderate dehydration: Consume 50-100mL per kg of body weight of the prepared solution over the first 4 hours to be taken in small portions. This is to be followed by 5-10mL per kg body weight for each subsequent loose stool or vomiting. Adjust the volume depending on the degree of dehydration.
Preparation:
Dissolve the content of each sachet in 200 mL of cooled boiled water. The liquid should be consumed within 24 hours after preparation.
Contraindications:
Blood in the stool, poor kidney function, haemodynamic shock and intestinal obstruction.
Storage:
Store at room temperature in a dry and dark place.
