Fewer gastrointestinal side effects  -  SFC, being a chelated form of iron,  releases fewer iron ions than other iron materials such as ferrous sulfate and ferrous fumarate. Thus, it is less irritating to the gastrointestinal mucosa compared with other iron formualtion (eg. ferrous sulphate, ferrous fumarate).
